Jill HaLevi

Jill Eskin Major HaLevi hails from Philadelphia. She received her law degree from the University of Michigan, and she has been a member of the South Carolina Bar for more than 25 years. She has extensive courtroom litigation experience from her 10 years of work as an attorney at the County and Federal public defender offices in Charleston, plus her first 8 years of private practice (in both Family Court and Federal Criminal Court). She has represented numerous clients in the Federal Court “Bridge” (drug court) program and in criminal cases/clemency petitions with the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In the realm of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Jill has been trained and certified as a Guardian ad Litem, in Collaborative Law, and in civil, criminal and family court mediation. In 2008, Jill co-founded the Mediation and Meeting Center of Charleston (now the Lowcountry Mediation Center), a non-profit that provides direct mediation services to those in need. She currently serves as President of the LMC. Jill is also co-founder and Chair of the Charleston Cooperative Family Law Association (CCFLA), which is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the practice of Cooperative Law in Family Court matters. She is a presenter at local and state-wide seminars on Cooperative Law and Mediation.
With this diverse background, Jill brings a unique perspective and array of skills to her practice. For the past 10 years, Jill has focused her Family Law practice on Mediation and Cooperative Practice.

Stuart Feldman
Attorney, mediator
Stuart Feldman was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, graduating from Middleton High School. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans, followed by law school at the University of South Carolina School of Law. Stuart began his career as an Assistant Federal Public Defender before going into private practice with his brother, Stanley, of blessed memory.
For more than 25 years, Stuart was a sole practitioner focused primarily on Family Law disputes. He has handled a range of complex cases, including those involving parents with challenging issues (drug/alcohol abuse, severe mental health concerns, and alienating behavior), and believes based on his years of litigation experience that people faced with divorce should strive to address their difficulties in a balanced and cooperative manner. The challenges in doing so are significant, but the benefits are enormously important to all concerned, especially the children. As it is said, “justice, justice shalt thou pursue.” This means, among other things, that one must pursue a just outcome by just means. It also means that one must properly consider the perspective of the other person.
Stuart is a founding member of the Charleston Cooperative Family Law Association (CCFLA) because he is committed to implementing these principles in zealously
representing his clients.

Meriwether Bennett
Paralegal
Meriwether Bennett earned an undergraduate degree from The College of Charleston and paralegal certification from Trident Technical College. She has more than 25 years of experience assisting Charleston lawyers and their clients. Meriwether is organized with an eye for detail and has solid knowledge of the workings of Family Court. She enjoys every opportunity to help and support people in finding their way through challenging times.
